Impreza wagon side air bags

Dan

I'm looking at getting an Impreza 2.5 wagon for my wife. Not the
WRX/STI, just the base wagon. I see the 2006's have side air bags, can
anyone tell me what year these were added? I'd like to find a nice
clean (ie CHEAPER) used 2003-2005, but I do want her to have the side
airbags.

TIA

Almost positive this year ('06) is the first. Check model histories at
www.cars101.com or ask a dealership to find out for you.

Yeah I found that site from another thread here, lotsa info. I susupect
you're right about the airbags, thanks for your reply.

My 05 Impreza Outback SE came with side airbags.

Glen-Thanks for the reply, that's interesting. The '06's are described
as having "Front-seat-mounted head/chest side-impact air bags". I think
in some cars this is actually 2 separate bags, one apparently high the
other low. Not sure what the Subaru setup is. ANyone know?

They're described as being one airbag in each of the front seats,
closest to the door, and are about chest height for the average adult.
They look like they might explode toward the door and inflate forward to
protect the occupant. Hope this helps.
