Features of OEM Subaru alarm?

A

Andrew Hess

I'm trying to decide between the Subaru alarm and an aftermarket alarm
(I'm considering the "Crime Guard" from Crutchfield), but I can't find
a listing of the Subaru alarm features. Can someone please enlighten
me?

Also, has anyone installed a Crime Guard on their Subie?

Funny that you ask....I just bought and installed oem factory alarm I got on
ebay for $65......Very easy to install....Features,
Warns you that a door is open before alarming, Has a valet mode, starter
cutout,
impact alarm, also can be set to a passive alarm which means will set itself
once the engine is shut off and door is open and closed BUT the doors does not
lock.(i am not using that). The only thing I see so for which I do not like is
the the engine hood is not alarmed...Every thing is plug in not cutting of the
harness..I installed this on my 2003 baja..

For passive arming, you can lock the doors, you just can't use the key fob
to do it - they have to be manually locked (either with the key, or by
throwing the manual lock switch on the door handle)

Hello

I am looking to get one for my Forester. Can you tell me the one you
got from e-bay. I will check if it fits on mine.

You say it was easy, how easy?

Thanks
