I have a 2009 Impreza. Engine: EJ253. I'm looking to replace the serpentine on my engine and am wondering if I could just grab one off a newer model of Subaru(from a scrap yard) and throw it on.

I'm hoping someone will let me know!
Thanks

depends which belt it is. if its the ps/alt belt, the alternator has a ton of adjustability if that horrible bolt isnt seized. so long as it has the same number of grooves the belt off of any EJ engine should work fine. new belts arent too expensive but tbh i think we've all been there

For what new fan belts cost, it's just not worth it to get something from a junk yard and expect to save money. It's not just age but miles driven and many other factors that affect belt life and serviceability. Just bite the bullet and buy a new one if you want piece of mind.
