Got a letter from Subaru about a possible DCM issue with my 2018 Impreza and how it can drain the battery.
Apparently not a recall....

Today the battery was dead (jump started), and they say they replace it if they determine the DCM is the cause.
I wonder how they do that?
Anyone have this issue?

Thanks,

I had the same issue on my 2017 Outback 3.6R. If I didn't use my car for two days the battery was dead. The battery was 6 years old so I thought, OK it's time for a replacement. A month later I went back to the dealer with the same issue and they replaced the battery again. A week later I went back to the dealer. They found the DCM was drawing 3x the amount of power it is supposed to. There is a recall on the Gen1 DCM. fortunately my car was still under extended warranty so it only cost me the $100 deductible. Once they replaced the DCM, not only did my battery drain no longer drain while sitting, but my phone calls through Bluetooth were much clearer and didn't drop anymore. Apparently the Gen 1 DCM supports 3G phone networks which no one is using anymore. The Gen 2 DCM support 5G networks so my 5G phone works great! Cristal clear and no more dropped calls.
