awful seats

Odd that I got TWO nasty responses to my question, and they were of the
same nature. Oh well, I'm annured to most online inanity, as I've seen
it all.

Might look at auto upholstery shops, it's not that difficult to change the
foam underpad, and they could probably shape it to better fit your body, or
add some foam where needed.

Who here agrees that Subaru seats are lousy?

I do not agree. My 2004 STi has wonderful seats, for the following reasons:

.. They aren't made of leather, they're made of this lovely faux-swede stuff
that clings without sticking, to skin or clothing.
.. They're cupped almost perfectly to myself and my passengers' forms.

The above two points combine together with the interesting locking seatbelts
to make a beautiful performance experience.

.. The seats are height adjustable as well as front-back, and back-rest
tiltable, and they aren't electronic, which means they'll last longer.

.. The driver's side is heated, and in a normal WRX, so is the
passenger-side.

.. They have a *very* high backs, so they protect the head in the event of a
rear-ender. Even *my* head, and I'm a huge (tall, muscular) guy.

.. There's enough room in the seats that I can fit in the car, unlike the
350Z, many of the higher-end Mercedes sportscars, the Z4, the S2000, etc
etc.

.. There's just the right amount of give for the shape I'm in right now. Long
10-hour trips demand vigilance on my part to maintain proper posture, or I
suffer for it, but so long as I pay attention to how I'm sitting in the
seat, I can go virtually unlimited distances--even though the suspension
and hard tire sidewalls try to conspire to give me trouble just getting out
of the vehicle at a rest stop.

Now there's a good idea! I see Recaro seats start at $800, so upholstery
should be less than that. If it approaches, say $500, I might prefer to
buy an entirely new seat.

Well, this will teach me not to buy a stripped down model, now that I
learned that the better models have more adjustments.

It's pretty clear that the various Subaru models have very different seats.

Very strange responses.
I am 6'4'', 165 pounds, and my ass hurt after spending three hours in
our '03 Outback with leather seats. Maybe they fit fat people
better...

"H", too cowardly to use his real name, appears to be Canadian. He can
safely be ignored.

H's comment - while crude, isn't too far off the mark.

I know it doesn't apply in this case, but most of the complaints I HAVE seen about Subaru seats
being uncomfortable are in fact made by obese people.

Subaru's definitely are not "fat people" cars. :^) -Danny

He's far off the mark about my weight and my pill-taking habit.

Tom,

1. "Danny Russell wrote: I know it doesn't apply in this case,"

2. Trolls crave a specific reaction, (ruffled feathers, etc.) ...don't feed the trolls.
