99 Forester - Cruise Control

G

Graham

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me please, once the main control switch is pushed, is there
any indication in the cabin thst it is engaged. Eg, does your switch light
up, is there a dash panel indicator light, does the switch have a tactile
response? Mine, the swithc has not tactile response (doesn't click for
example), has no light and there is no dash panel indicator. Just wondering
how you're supposed to know the main switch is engaged or not? Thanks in
advance, regards Graham.

Well I don't know about the 99' Forest
but in my 98' OBW there is a "click"
with the main button and the main
button has a light that comes on.

'02 Forester. Button near my knee, turns on a green 'CRUISE' light in the
dash. Absolutely no tactile feel at all, feels like a blank on a spring. No
click, doesn't lock in as it's a momentary-type switch.
Then you use the stick - down set/decelerate, up resume/accelerate, towards
you for cancel.
Turn the cruise system off, press the button again. All the normal
overrides - brake pedal, change of gears (manual) etc.

Check your fuses. If the little light ain't coming on when you push the
button, then cruise isn't working. If the fuses are fine, get it looked at
by a dealer. Same deal as before.

We have a '99 Forester. The button does not click, though there is a hard
stop at the bottom of its travel. There is an orange light on the button
above the word CRUISE. The light is hard to see in daylight. Check it at
night or in an unlit garage.

Well shoot, just take your foot off the gas and if you don't slow
down, it's on!
