water spots?

Hi All,

My 2006 Forrester had a run in with my sprinkler system.
Our water in medium hardness -- mostly calcium. Now
my glass has water spots all over it.

I found a glass cleaner with ethanol and vinegar in
it.. The vinegar would remove the spots but I am afraid
of what ethanol and vinegar might do to my paint.

How do I remove water spots with out ruining my paint?

Can't help with the water spots but you might want to check out

Will this hurt my glass? I guess if it doesn't hurt my
paint, it should not hurt my glass.

I use "homebrew" on my glass for water spots: 25% vineger, 75% water.
It's not harsh enough to damage the paint if sprayed on, let sit just a
minute or so, and wiped off. Left to sit longer, I can't say. As they
say w/ many products, "Test first in an inconspicuous area."

wouldn't reg window cleaner or even water remove the spots?

I live in a big city and the windows get a coating on them and a
shower or water drops may sit on the glass, and cause a spotting of
the coating that can take 20min of using the wipers to wear it off,
and can makes seeing in low light and light rain conditions really
tough to see with the spotty haze. One time following a semi I had to
stop, and what took it off was Spitting on the glass. Bug and tar
remover would take a long time to remove it. I recently started trying
Rain X recommended by a friend, and applying a 2nd coat takes the
coating off, and seems to delay the buildup, or it disappears with a
few wiper wipes when it rains.

I am concerned that ammonia and/or alcohol will ruin my
paint (I am not the best shot). I am told that Subi
paint is temperamental. I have had to use touch up
paint to cover up the pits from insect strikes on my front end.

I ran a bunch of "spot free water" from the coin wash
over it and it seems to help. If it continues to annoy me,
I am going to try a 4 to 1 water, vinegar solution.
