Upstream and downstream O2 sensor

I have a 2001 Forester. I have replaced my O2 sensor over the years, twice. The last one was a Walker brand and it has failed in only 2 years and about 8000 miles. The first time I changed the O2 sensor, I used a Bosch. I got 8 years and about 80,000 miles before it failed. Quite possibly the Bosch brand is better. Have others discovered the best O2 Brand to buy?

Also oddly, I never seen the downstream sensor on my Forester, is there one? Parts stores call up both upstream and a downstream.

My Forester is getting bad gas mileage and the check light has come on so I believe the upstream sensor is the culprit.
