Right rear window on my '04 Forester (2 months old) SQUEAKS when it goes
up or down, about 75% of time. I called my service department, the woman
who answered the phone said something like, "Usually they just spray
some silicon on it. Try that and if it doesn't help, let us know."
Since 3 windows do not squeak, I know Subaru can build a car without
squeaky windows. Why am I supposed to bear the burden of fixing a
problem present since day 1? The help Subaru has provided assumes I have
a can of silicon, and I don't think I do. If all it takes is a squirt of
silicon, couldn't they just do that in 2 minutes and send my on my way
happily? Furthermore, if I do spray silicon "all over" will it make my
window a greasy mess? Will it get on my paint and make it a greasy mess?
I know if I go there and make a scene, I can get some help. I hate
making a scene. I gave them a check for the full purchase price of the
car, and haggled very little over the price. Is a little respect too
much to ask. Well, I guess you've got to fight for your right to party.
All that said, has anyone encountered this problem? Is there an easy
fix? Where do I spray the lubricant? Will WD40 work as well? What about
bicycle or motorcycle chain lube?
Thanks for listening.

[Sorry to vent. I guess this reminds me of an issue with a Saturn I had.
It always leaked, just a few drops, in the rain, on the driver's door. I
think a weld there wasn't flush. When I finally mentioned it, the dealer
applied a little dab of caulk to the weld. Problem solved. Although the
problem was present from day 1, I never complained about it, and when I
did, the car was out of warranty, so they charged me $35 or $40 dollars
for this. I always get fucked on these deals, and just see myself
getting fucked again. I guess you got to go in and start screaming at
them, really fucking screaming to get noticed. The squeaky wheel gets
oiled.]
