The icon saying the Blind Side assist is functioning has turned to OFF... so the warning light to indicate that a car is passing me doesn't come on anymore. I've checked the manual and had the car washed to make sure the sensors are clear, but it still isn't working. Any suggestions?

Year, Make and Model will help but you should consider a dealer or independent shop visit. Good diagnostic equipment will offer as reason and ant recorded fault code(s) in one or more control modules.
There are no suggestions without a fault analysis. However, in some cases, mirror damage, mirror harness damage, Blind Spot Assist Object Sensor or related harness damage. The worst case is when the Blind Spot Assist Object Sensor has become defective because of it being hit / electrically damaged or flooded with water, salt, sand, etc. etc.
