Portable jack that's not a scissor jack

I've always hated the scissor jacks that come with cars standard. Does/has anyone found a replacement that is a good replacement that works better and is safer than the scissor jack that doesn't take up a bunch of room?


Or is the scissor jack the best route to take?

How low do you need it to fit on your lowest jack point?

I would just use it on the road. I don't need it to get too high, just high enough that I have to change the tire while out and about.
