Lug nuts frozen and breaking

I have a 2018 Crosstrek with 76k miles. In last 15k miles I have had 6 lug nuts frozen and were broke when removed. Is this common?

To clarify..what broke..nuts or studs?

Sounds like someone went to town with the air gun at some point and jammed the nuts on to the point of no return.

That's what I thought as well. However, I found out that there is a service bulletin showing that the lug nuts will develop rust and there is a replacement for them. I'm in touch with Subaru USA to see why this wasn't a recall.
