Crankshaft pulley nut...

Probably is on all series of engines. Definitely is on EA-8x series.
Which engine do you have?

DOHC 2.5 I got the bolt off yesterday after
fabricating the service tool to hold the pulley.
Took a lathe, a mill, and 4 hours, but it won't
take nearly so long next time.

Hi TG, All!

Righty tighty/lefty loosey

Usually, but not always. Fasteners that have left-hand threads
(fittings for flammable gas service; propane, acetylene, hydrogen, for
example) generally will have a circumferential groove around the nut
to let you know that "Lefty" is tight ;-)

Not to mention bicycle pedals.

As for the crank bolt, it's best not to assume when
you have to use a 3 foot breaker bar.
