I recently acquired a 2011 Subaru Legacy Premium. I’ve never owned a vehicle with a CVT transmission before. I think the transmission may be slipping but just can’t tell for sure. The vehicle has been in my family since new and has been well cared for. It’s a high mileage sled with almost 220k on her. If you put your foot in it the rpm’s go up fast but not a lot of acceleration. Feels to me like maybe some slipping going on…..just driving it normal it goes just fine and I drive it pretty mellow. Just wondering if there is a sure fire quick test to determine if it is slipping.

You can check the CVT fluid to see if its dark or smells burnt. You know these things absolutely need regular fluid changes, and that's been done?
