Consumer Reports claims that Subarus have excessive electronic problems.

I'm a Subaru believer, mainly because we live on the East Side of the Cascades with plenty of snow. However, our 2019 Subaru has "issues".

Nothing like a car that nags you to "keep your eyes on the road" while you're looking for a parking spot, or enjoying the scenery. This after you've turned that function off over and over again!
Or you tap an icon to turn on or off the seat heat, then the screen switches to another screen with an identical button that you have to push again...eyes on the road you say?
This is stupidly on top of poor quality!

Well I can take that both ways.

Somehow, I feel a little responsible as I pitched the automotive industry to use cameras for safety and they have done exactly that. If anything, more quickly than I predicted.
However there is still one system I'm waiting to show up. But I have no doubt that it eventually will. It's only a matter of time, perhaps a few law suits and perhaps a mandate or two along the line. Then competition makes it unanimous.

What price and at what conviencece is your own hide worth?

I'd much prefer to have all of that type of tech gone. If people can't focus on driving, and need the car to do that for them, they should be in charge of such a potential weapon.

If they have to keep the tech, I'd like an automatic points system for all of the infringements while driving, particularly not stopping for red lights/stop signs, not stopping being the stop line first, and drifting over the white and yellow lines.

Collect points. Get fines. At some point, the car doesn't turn on when they turn it off. That would keep all of us a lot safer.

I somewhat agree and disagree at the same time.
I look at these systems as aids and safety enhansments but not replacements for good or responsible driving.
For example I am staunchly opposed to so called autonomous or driverless cars but am all for anything that aids drivers be safe and helps to save lives.

Again..disagree. Almost no one wants to derive anymore. Skip the expensive, dangerous middle step and go autonomous when they're ready. We're close. People can eff around all they want while the car does all of the work (not some), and the rest of us can drive because we enjoy it. Also, no mixed blame on insurance.

Well, in the mean time...besides engine technology.
The good things are:
blind spot tech (including backup tech),
back up cameras,
And seat and rear view mirrors memories (when divorced from camera systems).
Everything else should go into the waste bin of automobile history.
But before they do anything else throw away the stoplight engine cut off! Law or not, refuse to comply with this idiotic idea!
Dimming rear view mirrors should be standard equipment by now, too.

Stealerships are the worst. Kudos on getting it solved.
I get all my work done at my dealer and they are fantastic.

They got an out-of-warranty repair on my ac compressor. I had mentioned the noise to the service advisor one month before, and she documented the complaint to then -- $1600 in work replacing the compressor, pulleys, etc.

My dealer has been fantastic.
