Legacy 2005, A/C intermittent cooling problem

O

Ollie

What we could tell to the dealer, who after 2 visits has not been able to
diagnose the problem in the A/C cooling? When driving on warm day or hot
night with the cooling on, the cold air stops after 10 - 20 minutes and only
very little warm air is coming from the dash vents even with the fan is in
max. By turning the A/C off for 20 minutes, the air flow comes back and the
A/C can be turned on again and it will be doing the cooling for the next
10 - 20 minutes. At the same time the dash board between shift stick and
radio becomes quite hot - over 90 F.

The folklore is telling that the reason could be in
- refrigerant level
- inside temperatire sensor
- pressure senser
- humidity sensor
- compressor
- icing in the evaporator core

If you have seen the same symptoms, what was the reason and how it was
fixed?

Cheers, Ollie

Sounds like the evaporator is icing up.
Try running it on Max A/C only. If the problem doesn't appear after 10-20
minutes, then it's definitely icing, which shouldn't happen on Max A/C
because the cabin air is recirculated and low humidity.
