Own a 2005 Forester, 127,000 miles and the harmonic balancer needs to be replaced - the rubber is all coming apart, it's sliding forward, and the belts no longer line up with the pulley. My question is... about 9000 miles ago I had the timing belt replaced and am wondering if the mechanics could have messed up the balancer causing it to ultimately malfunction? Any help/thoughts would be great. Thanks.
