2010 Impreza AC causing car to stall

Hello, hopefully someone can make sense of this for me. 2010 Impreza 2.5l will almost stall when idling with the AC running. If you turn off the AC it idles just fine. If you turn the AC on, the compressor clutch engages, system blows cold air, idle seems fine, but (and here is the odd part) as soon as the compressor turns off and the clutch disengages, the car idle drops immediately and almost stalls. I would think if the compressor was seizing up, it would do it with the clutch engaged, not after it disengages?. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is it the clutch going bad? TIA for any input.
