Worth to fix

My daughter has 2013 Subaru Legacy with a bad transmission. I can get one for 1700.00 and install 500. $2300. She does burn oil, not terribly bad enough to put i qt between oil changes. The brakes are new and calipers are new. Tires 4 years in good shape. Is it worth putting $2300 in. Will this affect the timing chain

It should have nothing to do with timing, but is this a CVT? If so, is the replacement new or used? They tend to fail with regularity...so I'd get a high mile warranty, if CVT.
