Wont start,when it does,rough idle ?

2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5, been working on her, new plugs struts tires, pcv valve, etc, Took her up to get alignment, 30 minutes away, ran great. Coming home, got off on my exit, she died, tried to start her, sounds like no fuel. Friend towed me home, started but now runs rough,shakes. Please help ? A friend is going to come over soon with a reader to see what codes are showing but any suggestions until then ? Could the coil pack have failed ? Thank you in advance great Subaru folks .

when in doubt, check over the work you just did. sounds like its misfiring, did you use cheap plugs?

Thank you. No I used the best of everything, now I'm thinking the coil pack. The engine was replaced a few years back before I got it back but I noticed the coil pack is original so that's next. I'll keep you posted. Thank you.

Thank you. No I used the best of everything, now I'm thinking the coil pack. The engine was replaced a few years back before I got it back but I noticed the coil pack is original so that's next. I'll keep you posted. Thank you.
huh interesting, both cylinders on that side. injector ground on that side could be corroded? or camshaft position sensor could be acting up. im chasing a similar issue with an 04 fxt so im interested to see what you find. hopefully coil pack fixes it, good luck 🤞
 
Well, the "best" of everything included oem parts or high quality parts. This will be my daily driver so I don't want to risk being stuck on the side of the highway because of inferior parts,although I know those can fail too. Thank you for asking.

My 2016 Outback did that, wouldn't start -battery dead. Jumped it, started, shook terrible and dies 10 seconds later. Re jumped, shaking like engine trying to break loose, gas pedal had no resistance, pedal all way down and moved very slow topping out at 8 mph; I wouldn't have stayed in seat without seat belt. Had towed to mechanic, they started it a couple days later and worked fine after being jumped. That was around 2 years ago. Only thing can figure out something wrong with the electronics then they worked correctly later.
 
Thank you Nellie, I'm getting ready to swap out the old coil, it's original and see if that helps. It just may be electrical. I will keep you posted. Thank you again.
 
Good morning Dick, well you were right. I replaced the coil, got everything buttoned up, started her up, no change. Still feels like it's missing. Different thing happened this time though. After letting her run for about 10 minutes, turned her off, would not start. Waited about 15 minutes, started, ran rough, cruise control light started blinking then she cut off. I gave up after that as it grew too dark to work on her. I have her outside the garage for the moment. Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on ? Thank you in advance.

Start with checking what is necessary for combustion. Fuel, then spark, then air and track it down that way. Or else, pay someone else to figure it out. If it runs rough when it does run, pull the spark plug wires one at a time to isolate the cylinder that's not running.

It almost feels like a fuel issue. When I step on the gas it chugs for a second but as the rpms go up it smooths out but then will stall. I am Definitely not driving it anywhere.

I don't know what a fuel problem feels like so that's why we test things. It could be a clogged injector or something, but it could just as well be a fouled plug or a bad plug lead.

Thank you. Im trouble shooting the simple and obvious things first. I will definitely post the outcome, when and if I find the cause.
 
So Update on 007 Subie Impreza. After changing the coil, crank sensor cam sensor, I cleared codes , she started up, ran about 8 minutes then died. Same symptons ,cranks but does not want to start at least not right away. I'm about ready to start parting it out. I put so much work in her when it was running correctly and now, I don't know what to do. Maybe fuel injectors ? I'm almost at an end. The OBD port is a bit wonky. I have to wiggle the reader to get a good connection and when I move 1 wire it comes on and off. That wouldn't cause a problem with the whole system would it Please, any advice would be welcome. Thank you

one of the codes you got was for injectors, i probably would have started there. at least check and make sure theyre working!
 
Thats on my list tonight. Thank you. That may explain why it runs for a few moments then quits. Starved for fuel. I still have to get up underneath and find the loose wire for the OBD port.
