Bought a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX Turbo (not an STI) . Ran great was fun and then the fuel tank started leaking. Took it in to a collision shop as it became clear that the frame was extremely rusted. Collision specialists said it was too compromised. Hate to just let the car go to a junk yard because the turbo engine is good...what suggestions might anyone have? Have a $600 offer from a cash for car buyer. (Michigan)

You wont get much money junking it and somebody will take the motor at the junkyard anyways. So if you dont want to fix it you might as well part it out yourself or yeah sell it. Unless its super low mileage 600 to 1000 bucks isnt unreasonable for a totally rotten wrx. Or ofc buy a good shell and swap the motor into it

Thanks! We have been looking at shells. The information you shared is very enlightening, appreciate it very much!

Have you hunted for a good car with a bad engine to do a swap? (motors are electric...)

Replace the subframe with a good one?
Both the front and rear subframes bolt off
I have replaced a few on Fords
You can sometimes find the subframe laying on the ground for you at the junkyard
