I looked at a 2004 STI with 7000 miles, not pristine by any means, but no
bad dings or dents. One negative point is the car has had two owners
already and has only 7000 miles. I drove the car and heard a sort of rumble
from the front (could be the tires, but not sure). Anyway the small used
car dealer want $26,000 for the car. The car dealer isn't the brightest
bulb in the world and he believes that people will be lined up to buy the
car, I think for another $6000 a new one could be purchased. Any thoughts?

Two owners? Flooded, wrecked? Begin with a VIN search.

I would definitely pass on this one. An 04 STI with practically no miles
on it at a "small used car lot"? This tells me no dealership wanted this
car. The car was probaly taken in on a trade for a new model and then the
dealer dumped it at an auction. You have to ask yourself why this car
isn't being offered for sale at some Subaru dealership used lot.

Hi,

Sounds like more red flags than you'd find at a bullfight! There's
SOMETHING seriously wrong with this picture... a VIN search might reveal
what the most serious problem is with the car, but if it were my
decision, I'd continue looking.

Good luck!

Thank you all for your input. I'm thinking now about staying with my SRT-4
and looking into a turbo upgrade, rather than jump at the Subaru STI.
Although, I was impressed by the acceleration of the STI.

Nothing wrong with an Sti. Just go to a Subaru specialist and find a
good one with a full service history at a sensible price.

That dealer is probably smarter than you think.
He kept your interest, even though you seem negative on that car.

With two owners so soon and strange noises I'd leave this one.
Could have been in an accident.
