What do you all think about this idea?

I was thinking of maybe creating generation sections within all the Subaru Models. For example, Subaru Outback has 7 generations. I was thinking of creating a generation forum here for each generation, to better organize the forum. Each would have a few other forums within it, like 7th Gen Subaru Outback Suspension, 7th Gen Subaru Outback Engine & Performance, and so on.

So like this...

Subaru Outback
- 7th Gen Outback (2025 - Present)
-- General Discussion
-- Engine & Performance
--Interior
--Exterior
-- Audio & Electronics
-- etc.....
6th Gen Outback (2020 - 2024)
--and so on.....

What do you all think? Would it be nice, or just not worth it?

Only if there are enough "real" members. The folks who ask one question don't count.

Legacy and Outback forums already have all of the knowledge...and are set up that way.

Each Subaru section are not setup the way I mentioned above. It's just one section and every post goes in it. I'd like to organize it better so things are found easier, and members know where to look for questions and answers quickly, rather then scrolling through everything in one forum section.

Sure they are:

I don't think that we have nearly enough traffic to do it...but that is up to only you. :)

It seems to me that we have 45% CVT questions and 45% bad electronics questions. Not much outside of that. And with mostly one question participants...who are we helping?

I get it. I just think it could help for some new traffic, but its always a guess.

I like it.

Do a mock up adn see how many things would be in each of these categories. I'm guessing that it isn't much once you divide by model and design year changes (5 year cycles for Subaru).

Dividing by generations sounds reasonable; current owners have little in common with 20 year ones.
I wouldn't slice the pie any finer than generations, though.

The plan is to divide all models by generation, and also within those generation forums, have a few forum sections in it.

I would strongly suggest taking it in steps. just do generations first and see where that leads. gives much more specificity than now without risking dilution. Getting too granular too soon may end up with a lot of ghost subforums and possible confusion. If I am wrong can always add subforums later..but harder to roll back if you go all the way at once.

Can you share the # of posters who have 10 or less posts, 5 or less, and more than ten?

Pity the Poor Guy who will have to move all the existing threads into those new sections.... That would be me!!!

Maybe @Shaggy will help with that, eh? 🤣

I think just doing the generations, and not the sub forums within those generations will work. I think we can change it out later if need be. I think it will be easier to find things and to understand what year a member has if they don't post it in their thread.
