205 WRX STi's at the dealer: $10,000 dealer markup.
I guess my quest for a cheap fast car will have to bypass this $43,000
anomaly. Even the non-STi WRX models were marked up $3,000. I think not.
E-Gads! I bought my '02 WRX wagon in New Hampshire right after the WRX
was introduced to the US and named to Car&Driver's 10Best list. I paid
~US$22000 including the 100,000mi extended warranty (~2k under sticker).
I just wanted the car, if I had waited longer or bargained harder, I
may have improved on that. New Hampshire and Vermont is one of the
parts of the country where Subaru is very popular, so they didn't have
to advertise an extra-low price just to get people to visit the dealership.
Do the '05 models have many changes compared to the '04s? I was under
the impression that they did not. What country (or part of the country)
are you in?
Maybe Subaru dealers, after seeing the prices of the new Legacy/Outback,
are now thinking that their Impreza based cars are grossly underpriced.
I think my car is worth what I paid, but if the sticker was 3 grand
higher, I think I'd head to my local Saab dealer and get a new WRX clone
9-2x Aero for the same $$$.
