We bought a new Forester in 2019, in Canada, and assumed we had a three year warranty from the purchase date. Last Monday our starter malfunctioned. We discovered that the three year warranty begins on the manufactured date, 2018. thus our brand new Subaru wasn't really brand new.
I guess this is an example of buyer beware but I think it is wrong and needs to be advertised. When I buy a new washing machine and anything else I can think of, the warranty begins on the date of purchase and yet a big investment like a car doesn't?
Nonsensical.

Warranty starts on the date of purchase here. Different parts have different end dates. Other places may vary, but I'd get a second opinion on that one if possible. You're kinda stuck with a bad starter though.
Canada laws are different, and it is just near impossible to keep up with differences here, state to state. You'd think they would be the same, but don't seem to be.
Good Luck.
