warning lights on when engine off

Someone on another message board has this interesting problem All her
instrument panel warning lights (oil pressure, alternator, etc) come on
when the ignition is turned off and stay on even when the key is removed.
Anyone have any idea what is causing this? My guess is the ignition switch
but that's just a guess. Vehicle in question is a Forester>

Sounds like a good guess - possibly stuck in accessory position rather
than going fully to lock. Of course if it still happens with the battery
disconnected, the goose who was posting about Subarus being possessed a
while ago could well be right after all ... Cheers
