URGENT! Immobiliser Problem

M

Matthew Vigg

Hi

Have borrowed a friends WRX sports wagon and have been driving it
happily for 1.5hrs or so, just pulled up to look at the map and now I
can't start it again. I think it's a problem with the immobiliser
partly because the red light flashes when I try and start the car and
also the car has been having general electrical problems lately.
Basically the top key fob button works, ie opens the doors, I can turn
the key so that I get all the dashboard lights but then turning again
gets nothing.

There are two other buttons on the key fob and they don't seem to do
anything, not sure if I need a combination of these??

Electric problems with the car have been with the central locking,
when you use it from the key fob the car unlocks itself again 30
seconds later or so. You can lock it if you use the key.

I've tried checking all the fuses are in securely, currently in an
internet cafe, any help very much appreciated.

Matt

PS, my friend is currently flying to Europe (I'm in Australia)....

How have you managed to post this question then?

Read the guys post ya numbskull, he is an internet cafe.

Suggestions to original poster:

I would suggest looking in the handbook for details of rematching keyfob to
system as you would do when chnaging the fob battery.

Or disconnect the car battery for a few minutes allowing any crashed smarts
to be rebooted on powerup.

Um, did you have the clutch pedal fully depressed all the way to the
floor?
