tranny slipping 99 forester , 4 cyl auto, 60,000 miles

I have a 99 Forester with 60,000 miles. 4 cylinder automatic transmission.
While in "drive," if I come to a stop (ie light), the transmission will
sometimes slip. The engine accelerates as the pedal goes down, and the
engine revs, but no engagement-can't move. Then the transmission will
engage, and I'm off. I had it to the Subaru dealer last fall for a
transmission flush (it was slipping last summer at 50,000 miles). It
worked fine up to a couple of weeks ago-now it the tranny is slipping
again. Fluid level is good, hot and cold level. Any help? I would hate
to have to pay a tranny rebuild at 60,000 miles. Thanks.

Last year you should have complained. You would have had a warranty!!!
Now you can pay $2k for tranny repair.

Well... a longshot... but the auto tranny seems to have more than it's share
of nooks and crannies.

I had mine flushed and filled by the dealer, but then was able to get the
fluid level down again by parking and idling on slopes of various directions
and degrees.

I kept topping it off until it stopped slipping.

(Though it slipped less than what you describe I think.)

Caution though, you don't want to overfill. So go slowly with the
additions. (A tiny bit at a time and a few day's worth of driving
in-between.)
