Torque settings for Legacy brakes

R

Rick

Hi - my brakes are in bits - I've had the rotors turned - and I can't
find a shop manual with torque settings for the two pairs of bolts (one
larger, the other smaller) securing the front calipers on my 2002
Legacy wagon. Does anyone have the values handy?

Thanks!

Hi Rick!

Values??? We don' _need_ no stinkin' values!!! ;-)

Rick, get 'em as tight as you reasonably can with your 1/2in
ratchet/socket/extension. This probably equates to something in the
range of 50-60ftlb unless you are uncommonly strong.

Just 'cause I'm a nice guy, I looked up the numbers for a 2K2 Impreza
for you (I _have_ an Impreza book . . .); Legacy numbers are probably
fairly similar.

Caliper to support (carrier): 19.5ftlb (The smaller bolts you refer
to?)
Carrier to hub: 59ftlb (The large ((14mm?)) bolts you typically remove
to pull the caliper? Insert from the back side.)
