Strut replacement

Uncle Ben

The strut for the right rear wheel of m 1999 OBwagon broke after only
160,000 miles! The rattle finally penetrated my brain and made me
realize that something was wrong and sent me to my mechanic.

He replaced both left and right rear struts, bleeding the brakes, etc.
in a three-hour job and charged me about $500.

Was that about right?

Hi,
Not bad. What did he use KYB? Koni? OEM?

About a year ago I got a quote from a place for $660 for that same job. I
like your cost better. My '99 has about the same mileage...original struts
too...what did it do for your ride?

It did a lot. But consider that whenever I crossed the smallest bump
in the road, the broken pieces of the failed strut rattled noisily
against its environment, not to mention the bouncing,

Now the ride is quiet and not so bouncy.

I am sold on my new mechanic. He talks to me like a human being and
doesn't overcharge me. He has two walls of letters from satisfied
customers in his waiting room.

Why not share his name and location here? Someone in your area may need
his services!

Right! My mechanic is David Anker, who runs his own shop in
Schenectady, NY on Van Vranken Avenue. with perhaps 6 employees. I
learned about him through several personal friends. We all agree!
He's in the phone book.
