Re : sti vs. outback vs. etc (wrt price)

I was in Jackson today for car-related stuff, and had the opportunity
to wander around cowboy motors' parking lot. They just got their next
sti in (turns out it's blue w/silver wheels), and shockingly enough a
v6 outback sedan costs right around the same price! ...and of course
a ford awd explorer costs considerably more. The sti really is an
amazing value. The interior room is quite acceptable (a 2.5ts sedan
was too crowded for me, but the sti is utterly fine), and the
performance is ridiculous (and I'm being gentle with it until full
break-in). I didn't realize the outbacks were so pricey - I knew the
sti was priced wonderfully, I just didn't know quite how wonderful. I
guess the insurance thing is the main hurdle for lots of people.
