Has anyone ever had a spontaneous crack occur on their windshield?
The other morning I got in my Outback “22 to go to work and there it was. Started on the driver side edge and has since traveled to the middle of WS. No sign of any kind of impact. Any thoughts? I’m on the hook for about $1000.00

Happens all of the time. Did you search this forum or...anywhere?

Windshields in all recently made cars is crap these days, irregardless of the make. I think its thinner glass due to CAFE crap. My mechanic says it's all coming out of Mexico, these days and it's simply poor quality.

I have a 2025 forester limited and I read on Reddit torque the 25 Subaru forester would have a thicker glass to address this flaw

O-boy yes. I just started the process of getting the windshield replaced under warranty. For anyone not familiar with the class action suit it covers some newer models including Ascent, Outback, forester and Legacy mainly 2019-2022 models. Mine is a 2019 Accent. The court ruled on Feb 25th that Subaru was at fault and Subaru agreed to put an extended warranty on certain models and years. 8 Years or 100,000 miles. They agreed in April to settle. There is certain criteria it has to meet. Mine meets the criteria. It also states that dealers have to replace the windshield with the updated part number and calibrate the eye site. With that said I contacted two dealers that replied " we don't replace windshields " so they are stonewalling or don't have the directive to do it. Called Subaru corp and started a case to get them to do the warranty directed by the settlement. Google " subaru windshield lawsuit " for more info on the " qualifying crack info" Basically it's a small spot less than 5mm with a straight line crack not originating on the side of the windshield. You cannot file a reimbursement claim anymore due to Subaru turning this into a warranty item. I will try to keep this updated on my progress.
