Side mirrors suddenly change/drop down while driving

New Subaru Outback. Notice that while driving down the road, the side mirrors will suddenly change position to pointing down and have to be readjusted. This seems dangerous. The driver recognition seems to be working fine and this is happening fairly often while going down the road. I haven't been able to find anything about this. So far, the dealership hasn't been very helpful on this. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have a cause or solution?
Thanks!

They shouldn't move on their own when the car is moving. Could you be hitting the button? Most hacve a "center" where the adjustment buttons won't work. If you push on the glass lightly, do they move easily? Assuming you're saying the glass, not the whole asembly is moving.

Not accidentally hitting anything. The glass is moving the same as when you adjust. This has happened to 2 different drivers multiple times with both hands on the wheel

I have seen online a couple of people with the same issue but they have never gotten a resolution.

Well, it is either getting an electrical signal to move, or there is a physical problem. It is always only down? Maybe something behind the glass is broken. I have one mirror like that on an older Subaru. It doesn't move on its own, but it only goes left and right.

Time to find a wiring schematic or if not disassemble on rt side mirror. you need to know if the power comes from the drivers switch or if there is a relay somewhere in the system that turns it on locally (voltage always on). The simplest method is to disassemble the mirror mechanically to get access but leave the wire harness attached. if there is voltage present at the mirror at all times look for a local switch/relay. Second see if the drivers switch turns on a voltage (5-12V) . next measure the voltage at the drivers switch - if the voltage is identical it is likely it is a direct power switch. if it is not the same there may be a relay in there somewhere. If is is much less that 12 volt there is probably a relay somewhere.
Next get a wire harness diagram and do it right, OR Do like the grease monkeys and replace all the parts one at the time.
OR Find an Auto-Electronics specialist.

It is not always down. It recognizes the driver fine and you can drive quite a while. Then, it will just randomly change and drop down both side mirrors while driving, and you will have to readjust while driving.

Does it have some "feature" where it changes them if it senses bright lighte behind you? There's some really strange tech these days!
