seat from salvage yard

All,

Do any of you know if the '97 and '98 Legacy L seats are interchangeable?
My 98's drive side is shot and the salvage yard has "excellent condition" 97
seats. Any Ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Any seat from 95 thru 99 should just bolt in. The LS, LSi and
Limited models had much better seats.

Forgot to mention my 95 wagon has leather 8-way power LL Bean seats
from a 2002 model. Have to use the newer style seat belts with the
3rd gen seats.

Thanks I'm going to go over there on Sat and see what they look like. IDK
if I will be allowed to "remove" them from the old car or if someone from
the yard will do that for me. They may be removed already. Any special
tools to remove and install?

Thanks again!

Not sure of the socket sizes needed but thinking 14 or 12mm works for
most of the bolts. Where the seat belts are anchored you will need
larger sockets and at least an 1/2" rachet as those bolts are always
difficult to loosen. Just look at your seat before leaving for the
yard to determine the sizes needed. When you reinstall the seats be
forewarned those "seat belt" bolts are very difficult to start and
don't cross thread them. Fine threaded and once you cross thread
them you have a real problem. And I won't bother with another L
seat. Get some from the LS or Limited models. Your butt will
appreciate the upgrade.

Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna go and check them out tomorrow. I'll let
you know how it goes.

Well the salvage yard seats were crap. Sticking with what I have for the
moment...

Post over on www.ultimatesubaru.org in the parts wanted section.
Several members there at the moment are parting out either Limited
models (leather) or one SUV Legacy. Even the 6- or 8-way power are
easy to install. Just need to run a fused wire under the seat.
