The car set for two years at my brothers house. He is certified mechanic. He regularly started the car but did not drive it. During the two years he replaced fuel pump with OEM pump. Put new spark plugs in and changed oil. When I picked it up I drove 30 miles home and parked it for a month. When I started it the idle was very bad. With correct cleaner I removed and cleaned throttle body, EGR valve, mass airflow sensor and checked PCV valve. All this done with battery unhooked and I pressed brake to drain ECU. I followed relearn instructions. But on first attempt to start it I was not successful. I did get it started and drove it maybe 10 miles. When I parked it and tried to start it again I was not successful. It took many attempts before it started. I have cleaned everything again added fuel and fuel treatment. I have checked for vacuum leak with wd40.

A running Engine needs THREE THINGS : 1) Gasoline ; check fuel line from rear all the way to the Engine bay for (a) Full (b) Pressure ;
2) SPARK ..... (CORRODED SPARK PLUGS FROM BEING UNUSED SO LONG !) ;
(3) AIR-Flow , from pre-filter, all the way to the Throttle Body

If you have ALL THREE (Air , Fuel , Spark ) then the only thing left over is ..... TIMING !!!!!!!

This is the Same Step-Wise-Process that has been used since 1-Cylinder , Pop-And-Skip Engines were first used on Thrashing Machines , and on Farm Water Pumps ...... !!!

For my money, I'd bet on Spark problems ..... !!

If the Timing is Out-Of-Wack (check the old fashioned way, with an Induction-Type Pick-Up Type Timing Light ) , then the ECM is having a problem, which MIGHT be originating at one of the Inputs (Valve or Crank Sensors). Otherwise , the ECM itself may be on Vacation !!!!!
