Just got a service and the mechanic reckons I need a new timing belt because it has never been replaced but my car hasn’t even hit 100000 km yet. Do I need to replace it or is the mechanic trying to take me for a ride? (2011 outback)

Service interval on all of my Subarus is 105k miles (not kms) for timing belt, water pump, etc.

I had timing belts on my Subarus changed around the 100k miles (not kilometers) mark as well according to the manual. The mechanic usually timed it according to what else needed to be done in there while it was taken apart.
