From the beginning my Subaru Crosstrek XV 2014 has been a pure lemonThe battery had to be replaced in the first week. Ive changed the brakes 4 timesI don't drive any different? The front wheel bearing went and when it went again same side, a different Subaru dealership said it had never been touched. The A/C failed at around 90,000km. New compressor and condenser. Subaru dealership said they couldn't get the parts, didn't have A/C for over a year. Replace The full exhaust system heat shield fell off. Then about 8 mths ago the transmission went, the front wheel bearing different side. Then 3 months later the engine failed even though I told the Subaru deanship that the engine didn't sound right. In fact people would ask me what was wrong with my car all the time!
I even paid thousand of dollars for the 7 year extended warranty which only covered the 2 wheel bearing jobs on the same side within months of each other!
Ive written Subaru Canada many times in the last 6 mths and they have completely blown me off.
Mechanics tell me worst years to buy a Subaru 2013, 2014, faulty design. I believe there is a recall on the 2013 engine. Mine could be that engine depending on when it rolled off the assembly line
FA20 engine.
So there I was on my way to my family, about 8 hrs away. I was in the middle of nowhere in December in -20C weather with no cell service, a women alone in the dark with her dog, her groceries and her Christmas presents for 12 hours before a tow truck could make it to me. This is a very unreliable vehicle!
I'm the original owner, took good care of my car, regular oil changes etc ...... I expect having paid full dollar for my car to last longer than
140,000km.
Any thoughts or help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I'd contact Subaru headquarters in your country. They've been helpful to me over the years. If your dealer can do it on your behalf, that is helpful.

Triumph. Rush. Loverboy. Steppenwolf. Men Without Hats. Crash Test Dummies. A lot of options to get rid of a lot of lawyers.

So you're a tar heel? I went to HS not too far from Charlotte. I used to carouse a bit in Charlotte.

Move here in 2004. Originally from the outskirts of Boston...or Bahstan, as we call it. Replace your Rs with AHs and you've got most of the accent. lol

"Well, I hope Neil Young will remember a southern man don't need him around anyhow"

So you're likely a banker import then.

He's got lots and lots of really good BBQ to tide him over.

Same here. At least they had stret lights there so we didn't have to drive when it was wicked dahk... I miss the food but nothing more. The weather finally broke me. I wish that I left 15 years sooner.

Sort of! Educated for it, but was never in the field until I moved here. It was/is where the jobs are. Planned to move to Asheville area, but no useful jobs, so ended up here.

Drove through Asheville in 1976 to visit our friend going to school at Mars Hill College. We got pulled over by the college security guy simply because the car had Connecticut plates and asked what we were up to.

Re: the Crosstrek FA20 engine - I think like the FB25 its prone to oil consumption, I wonder if it also has cam carrier seal leaks? To the OP, sorry to hear you've had a multitude of trouble with Crosstrek. especially being that it's driven properly and well cared for. I do hope you have some recourse.

Well...don't wanna derail the thread but...was in Asheville last year for a quick stay scouting out possible retirement areas. Seems to me today that city has much bigger issues than out of state plates driving through.

I hadn't been to Asheville in a few years until last weekend. It used to be quirky and fun. Now, it is homeless and druggies wandering around everywhere. Hotel was terrible. We never got out of the car downtown and decided to drive up to Weaverville instead. Excellent decision. Walk freely. Park freely. Some of our favorite food anywhere. I'm done with Asheville and most of the other blue cities until they clean them up. Sad state of things.

All blue cites are cesspools, I live in a state that is mostly a cesspool, so I know.
