Possible dash cams?

Is it possible to access information from the forward facing cameras in my be Subaru Ascent?
In the event of an accident? For insurance purposes?

The manual for our Forester says that the cameras do not save any video.

I bought a $100 Dash Cam to do the job. They are a pain to wire. I wish all cars came prewired for the dash cam
