Is it possible to access information from the forward facing cameras in my be Subaru Ascent?
In the event of an accident? For insurance purposes?

I bought a $100 Dash Cam to do the job. They are a pain to wire. I wish all cars came prewired for the dash cam

Agree that prewired for dash cam would be great, but I'd even pay more if Subaru would just provide dash cam recording with the factory front and rear cameras already on my Legacy Touring XT. My family with their Cadillacs don't even have OEM front cameras so I'm pretty happy that my Subbie does.

That's a great idea for an option! Now if Subaru is smart enough, they'll listen and make a few extra sheckles selling a plug for cameras they already have installed now. Pennies in cost, dollars in profit. Easy to do too.

It has been a while since I’ve been on here, my apologies. If you remember a couple years ago, when Tiger Woods wrecked his car in the canyon coming from his home. And either the insurance or the investigators were able to retrieve the last seven seconds of his Front monitoring camera to determine what caused the accident.
This is where my thought is coming from. I bet there is enough tech around right now where someone could come up with some sort of an app where we could hack into our front driving cameras. wouldn’t that be cool?
I just received a Crutchfield catalogue in the mail yesterday. Maybe I should write them a letter, ask them. Something may already exist.

One of my dad‘s favorite things to say when came to electronics, was if I could think of it, probably somebody out there in California has already done it.

If you're talking about Crutchfield in Charlottesville VA, I doubt they'll know anything. They're just consumer electronics retailers who wouldn't know. However they'll likely have a dash cam or two to sell ya.

The tech we need is "The Nanny" screaming "get in your lane" ever time a rider drifts outs of it, and "GO GO GO" when people stop at green lights and arrows.

We already have lane keeping assist but you don't want anything to do with it. LOL
We still have horns too but there nothing like the loud blare good old American horns used to put out. But I seen guys install diesel locomotive horns that'll sure wake people up.
