Porsche and Subaru

A guy at work claims that Porsche uses the Subaru Boxer engine as a
replacement engine on the Boxster.

Is there any truth to that ?

I find it hard to believe and could not verify it using Google.

No. Many people make the boxer-boxster confusion mistake, but there is
no connection between Porsche and Subaru beyond the fact that they
use a similar horizontally-opposed, or "boxer" engine layout.

No one would complain about slow subarus if they had porsche engines.
The boxster is a poor mans porsche though like the 924 was.

many people do Subaru engine conversions(old VW bugs and vans for
instance) - but that one I have not heard of. Certainly a Porsche DEALER
would not do that. Doesn't mean some shade-tree modders haven't done it
once or twice SOMEWHERE.

The engines are similar in design, but that's as far as it goes. I'd love
to drop the boxer engine in my 911 into my Outback, then do a V8 conversion
in the 911. :)
