Performance versus mileage computer chip

Hi,

I've seen chips that can be put in the computer that up the horsepower
considerably for those who want it. I'm sure fuel economy goes by the
wayside as power is increased.

Is there a chip for increasing the mileage at the expense of losing
performance? I don't accelerate quickly and would just like to improve gas
mileage. I have a 2001 H4 Outback wagon.

Thanks.

If you have a 2001 2.5L, I believe you when you say you don't
accelerate quickly. In fact you CAN'T accelerate quickly.

I know that wasn't the point of your good question, however, I just
needed to vent because my goddamn car is in the shop again trying to
get to the bottom of an uneven acceleration/misfire issue that seems
to only affect it at around 4000 on accel and 1250 rpm on decel.

Best Regards,

I don't know whether Cobb makes an Accessport for your car. However, I have
one for mine. Increasing the performance potential only decreases fuel
mileage if you use that potential. Under normal driving, the fuel mileage
is about the same as stock.

It does have an economy map though. I use it for long trips on the highway.
I get about a 20% increase in fuel economy, but power is seriously reduced
(it reduces the turbo boost to nearly zero and advances timing more than
normal); OK for the highway, but not for playing...
