Oil Leak Cause Check Engine Light On?

G

GERALD BUCK

The Check Engine Light on my 2000 Outback has been on for a while (a
mechanic checked it out, said it did not need immedate service). Recently
had a minor leak from the oil plug fixed (different mechanic) , and the
light went out.

Coincidence, or is there a connection?

I doubt a "minor" oil leak would throw a CEL..for
that matter, not sure if low oil pressure would,
either.

What you want to do is find out what the code for
the CEL was...either from dealer or your local
Autozone (free!). Depending on the code, they
may be able to translate it, or you can ask here.
