obd2 codes

after the cel came on ('02 legacy wagon), i bought an obd2 reader. it
was showing a cylinder misfire (valve cover gasket leak was dripping
oil onto the plug wires), which i got corrected and then turned off the
light.

but now three of the tests show as incomplete: "o", which sometimes
clears itself, and the "c" and "ev" indicators which stay on, even
though they don't put on the cel anymore. (the motor itself runs quite
nicely now.)

the oxygen sensor(s) may just be dirty, since i do mostly city driving,
but the other two seem more serious, if they're real faults: i thought
the evaporative system could be the gas cap, but that's supposed to put
on the cel, and i really hope i don't have a bad catalytic converter.
(the rest of the exhaust seems solid.)

i'm wondering if this could be loose wires or a sensor issue, and how
to go about sorting it out? for starters, does anyone have notes on
how the "c" and "ev" tests work?

thanks,

It takes a few 'drive cycles' for those tests to complete. Read some
articles at www.troublecodes.net
