Nokian Q vs 1 winter tire on forester

Hello,
I bought a week ago a Forester XS 2004. I love the car, it make a
huge différence compared to my Civic.

I am in the process of buying winter tires. I always add Nokia/Nokian
tires and loved them. I would like to know if anyone can tell me if I
am better with the Q or 1 serie?

Also the tire guy tells me he can get 15" weel for my Forester, Subaru
dealer tell me only 16" will fit who is right?

Thanks

Tirerack.com sells no 15" rims for the XS - I'd think they won't fit (maybe
because of a brake clearance difficulty?).

I've used the Q and thought it was great in the snow and ice. It's dry
road handling wasn't as good as the Michelin Arctin Alpin but it was
better in the messy stuff. I don't have any experience with the 1's.

I just got a set of 1's for a legacy. The dealer said the 1's were supposed
to be a bit quieter than the old nokia's. Still hear the familiar snow tire
drone though -can't tell if they are any quieter as its been too long since
I was on older nokia snows. Was told Q is better for ice, 1's for snow and
slush.

Used to have 9's and 10's on a civic and was very happy with them -I'd
sometimes be plowing snow over the hood and up the windshield! i figured
since the 1's were supposed to be an improvement on the 10's I'd stick with
them.

Same here, I used to have 10 and 1 on my Civic's and I used to have
fun at a red lite when I saw à 4x4 with all-season tire and move in
front of him :))

I know what the 1 can do for me but was wondering if the Q would be as
good/better.

Thanks for your info.

Salut,

If you end up getting the Q post back how you find them. By the way if you
are in Quebec you could also get the 1's with studs.

Just so you know my subaru dealer also matched prices on the tires for
me -saved me going elsewhere. They provided the rims, so if I have any hub
/ rotor issues due to fit I'm only dealing with the one shop. Watch out for
aftermarket rims as some do not fit the hub properly.

Merci pour le hint. J'ai un meilleur prix plus près de chez moi à
Laval. De pas grand chose mais, en plus c'est moins loin.

Heureux de savoir que les Q vallent la peine.
