Well, after rebuilding the engine, new clutch, and new struts, I discovered my transmission does not appear healthy. It feels like some splined coupling is slipping when in any gear. I put the car up on jack stands slowly let out the clutch just to see if the AWD was OK and all I get is a sound I can best describe as not quit in gear. Sounds like the gears are just barely grinding, front tires spin and the rear do not. So in my search for a new transmission, I found a 1999 Forester with a manual trans and a broken timing belt for a good price. My question is this, will the Forester trans work in my Outback?
