Lift gate

Hi all,
My 2020 Subaru Ascent has the power gate. I am having issues when I try to open the gate with the button on the dash. If I push the button I get 3 quick beeps and nothing happens. What do I do?

Unlock your doors and then try to use the lift gate button to open the rear gate.

My 2020 Ascent has the same problem. I have tried the above fix with no results. I have also followed the user manual instructions under "Rear gate - if the rear gate cannot be opened" as well. Same (non) result. Any other ideas?
