hi,
i have this squealing noise (slight lower pitch than the brake squealing
noise) since i bought the car, and i have brought the car in to a Subaru
dealer twice but they came back saying nothing's wrong with the car.
the noise appears after about 10kms of highway driving, and since then,
it'll always appear. however as soon as i 'tap' the brake pedal, it goes
away, and comes back again after 5-10 seconds. it doesn't seem to happen
in short distance city drive though.
another way to describe this noise is it sounds like a grinding noise.
it is as if there was a 'pimple' on the brake disc, and it makes one
'pitch' on every completed circle. i can hear the pitch slows down as i
slow down the car, and speeds up as i go faster. it's also like bird
chirping because i can hear the interval between each pitch.
anyway, i'm bringing my car in again tomorrow, but i can tell from the
looks of those mechanics that they think i must be hearing "things". i
tried to use a tape recorder to capture the noise without success. so
i'm seeking advice on what i can describe this problem in another way
that they can understand.
at this point i'm suspecting it's brake or wheel-related, since its
frequency varies with the speed of the car, and i can always stop it
(for a short while) when i tap the brake pedal.
thanks in advance.
