I have a couple of questions, but here is the situation (long short of it).
I purchased a CPO 2019 outback, 6 month later the car would not start.
Dealership replaced fuse box and key-less control module.
Two weeks later my car was returned and started fine(both fobs), but would not remote start.
I read in the manual that the remote start does safety checks, one of which is to check if the hood is open.
I looked under the hood and saw that the hood pin switch(s) were missing.
It had two in the front now replaced with rubber stops and one on the passenger side.
I returned to the dealership and they reprogrammed it. Remote start now works, 2 key fobs, 2 long range remote start fobs.
1. Does anyone have any insight into why the pin switches were there in first place and then taken out?
2. More importantly, the service desk associate tells me the hood is not part of the security alarm system. Every car I've had with an alarm system also included some kind the hood tampering device.
Any thoughts?
