High Beam Assist issue

We bought our daughter a '23 Crosstrek Limited...great car, but the High Beam Assist (HBA) is not working. I went driving with her last night so she could show me. She does have it set on Auto on the light tree, but when she pushes it forward, the High Beams do not come on (we were driving on a rural road, no oncoming traffic). The only way for her to turn on the High Beams is to switch off the Auto setting on light tree, go into manual and then push it forward. Any suggestions? Thanks!

On both my previous 2019 xv and now my 2022 xv the auto lights are pretty hit and miss. I now tend not to use them on country roads as they easily switch down to dipped but don't return to high beam readily. My cars have the lights which swivel round corners. I don't know if that is on your cars as I'm in the UK

Is she doing a quick press forward while on auto? Or is she doing a long press. On my '24 I have to do a quick press to switch to HBA, and it is also very sensitive to ANY light sources in front of me.
