Fuel fill issues

My 2021 Crosstrek seems to have mechanical issues when filling with gas - it never seems like I get a super positive connection and sometimes it takes a couple of tries for the fume boot to pull a vacuum properly. Twice I've had the pump handle jetison itself out of the filler when the fume boot vacuum releases, and this morning had a bunch of fuel pool around the boot. I've been filling tanks for almost 50 years and never had this problem on another vehicle - anyone else have this problem?

Is the problem always at the same gas station or pump? It might be an issue with the pump sensors rather than your Subaru. Try a different gas station and /or pump and see if the problem goes away. If it does, be sure to report to the station manager the issue so they can fix it.
