Front Broken Sway Bar - '00 Legacy

P

Took Legacy to dealer this am due to recurring check engine light.
Apparently they did a poor job of connecting the rear O2 sensor they
replaced yesterday.

The tech noticed a front broken sway bar. I thought I felt things rattle
up front. The dealer says they have seen this before, and although I am
over a year past warranty they will check with Subaru to see if they can
replace under warranty. They didn't think it would be a problem. I'll
find out tomorrow.

Are others aware of any sort of sway bar problem?

I too am in the space place. Not a '00 OBW, but a '99. I heard the
"clunk", but steering and braking were good, but took it to the tire
shop just to make sure as the tires needed to be rotated. The right
side snapped at the bushing on the drivers side. I too am seeing if
this might be a warrenty item as I am just under the 80K make...yes I
did get the extended warrenty.

Keep you posted.

I haven't crawled underneath due to frozen ground, but I've got some nasty
sounds coming from the front. Sounds like the sway bar. Guess I'll be
lookin through the junk yard myself.
